We've all heard that the Pacific is experiencing one of the strongest El Nino events in recent history. But what are those crazy scientist talking about anyway?
El Nino means that the Pacific Ocean sea surface temperatures are increased above normal, which was caused by a very active Solar Cycle during 2014-2015. This produces increased evaporation off the ocean's surface into the atmosphere. NOAA (National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration) released their January outlook, which expects a strong El Nino to continue through late spring into early summer.
"How does this impact Northern California and what does this have to do with garage doors?" you ask.
That is a wonderful question! A strong El Nino means increased rain in Sonoma, Marin and Napa counties. Increased rain translates into the increased potential of water seeping into your garage through an improperly weather sealed garage door. Our Hanson technicians can evaluate your garage door for the best weather sealing options.
Our garage weather sealing products include: Rubber Bottom Seals, Rubber Thresholds and a Vinyl Climate Seal around the opening. The Climate Seals can be ordered in a variety of colors or simple painted to match your home color. An added bonus is these products are also great at safeguarding your home against rodents!
